Joy: Not Spending Money on Things I Don’t Want to Spend on Like High Electric Bill | Tue Jul 20, 2021

I get joy from not having to spend money on things I don’t want to spend money on. That might give me more joy than earning additional money. At the moment, I’ve found out how to use less electricity during week days.

I thought about this today when I set my apartment’s A/C from 76° to 73°. At 1pm every week day, I raise the thermostat setting of my A/C to 76°. I use my Dyson fan wherever I am in the apartment until 7pm (most evenings).

Alabama Power highlights the hours of 1pm — 7pm (btw I’m going to use military/world time because the am/ bugs me) as prime power usage timeframe. My electricity service is through HSV Utilities who doesn’t highlight high usage times of day — not published on their website that I could find.

My last electric bill for June was $85, and that’s combined with water and sewage. I think what I’m doing is working.
